Mount Tenjo from the Historic Road
Summary
Mt. Chachao/Mt. Tenjo Unit - Asan and Agat Invasion Beaches, War in the Pacific National Historical Park. This high point, positioned between the two invasion beaches on Guam's western shore, favored the Japanese defensive efforts and influenced military strategy and outcomes during the 1944 battle.
The historic road was constructed in 1911 from Aguana to Libugon, where a new Naval radio antenna was located. The road, one of only two shown near Asan Beach on 1940s military maps, would have served as a major supply route for both forces.
