New Mystery Adventures, a pulp magazine from 1935 to 1937, mixed genres such as science fiction, fantasy and adventure. Notable contributors included Wayne Rogers, Richard B. Sale and L. Ron Hubbard. Lars Anderson's "Domino Lady" and mystery writers Octavus Roy Cohen and Steve Fisher added to the charm. Originally Pierre Publications, it passed into the hands of Harold Hersey in December 1936 with a circulation of 600,000. Sadly, it folded within six months, reflecting the volatility of pulp magazines. In terms of titles, it jumped from New Mystery Adventures to Mystery Adventure Magazine, Mystery Adventures, and finally settled on Mystery Adventures Magazine. A.R. Roberts, W.W. Hubbard and Harold Hersey took turns editing five volumes. The mislabeling of the December 1935 issue was a quirky footnote. Despite a monthly schedule, the May and June 1935 issues were combined, and there was no April 1937 issue. Pulp format, 128-132 pages per issue, and a price drop from 20 to 15 cents made it a popular but short-lived gem.
