description

Summary

Nago City officials and Japanese media personnel embark an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft Oct. 16 on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma during a visit to the air station. The visit provided Nago City officials and Japanese media the opportunity to experience the functions of the Osprey by giving them the opportunity to take an approximately 45 minute flight on the aircraft. The Osprey is a unique aircraft that has the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft and the ability to take off and land like a helicopter. It has been used in operations and exercises across the Asia-Pacific region, including Operation Damayan in 2013. The Osprey is assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Brittany A.
