National Guard combat engineers with the 119th Engineer
Summary
National Guard combat engineers with the 119th Engineer Company (Sapper), from West Virginia, wait in a bunker before detonating a 15-pound shape charge at a demolition range during Sapper Stakes 2015 competition at Fort Chaffee, Ark., Aug. 31. Combat engineers use demolition in mobility and counter-mobility to both allow movement to allies and impede movement for enemy forces. The competition is designed to build teamwork, enhance combat engineering skills and promote leadership among the units. (U.S. Army photo by Master Sgt. Michel Sauret)
