Atsugi, Japan (Jul. 31, 2004) Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi Commanding Officer, Capt. Reed Eckstrom performs on the Taiko drums during the Bon Odori Festival. Over a two-day period July or August many Japanese American communities celebrate the Bon Odori Festival. This Buddhist dance festival is celebrated as a reminder of the gratefulness one should feel toward their ancestors. The Naval Air Facility Atsugi has been hosting these events annually for more than 40 years, in an effort to foster positive relations between the base and its host nation of Japan.
