Navy personnel inspect damage to the hull of the amphibious assault ship USS TRIPOLI (LPH-10) as the vessel sits in dry dock awaiting repairs. The damage was inflicted by an Iraqi mine that the ship struck while serving as a mine-clearing platform in the northern Persian Gulf on February 18 during Operation Desert Storm. The TRIPOLI was able to continue operations after damage control crews stopped the flooding caused by the explosion
