The grid rectangle now now as the "French Quarter" is labeled N Orleans. Beyond it, Esplanade Ridge portage connects to Bayou St. John, which drains into Lake Pontchartrain, where Fort St. Jean is shown. Settlements are shown in Faubourg St. John and the Gentilly area, here labeled "Chantilly"; other settlements along the highground along the riverfront including what is now Uptown New Orleans, Carrollton Riverbend, and Old Jefferson, labeled "Chapitoulas" (the Tchoupitoulas Coast).
