description

Summary

NAVAL BASE GUAM, Guam (April 22, 2020) Hospitalman Karlie Doll (right), assigned to U.S. Naval Hospital Guam (NHG), from Wasilla, Alaska, passes patient samples, collected from Sailors assigned to aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), to Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Stephanie Lopezparga, assigned to NHG, from Wichita, Kan., at the specimen processing center. NHG is assisting the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, during a COVID-19 public health outbreak investigation among the crew of Theodore Roosevelt. The purpose of the outbreak investigation is to enhance the Navy’s understanding of the outbreak, inform future COVID-19 decisions and guidance, influence future testing strategies and operational planning, and provide COVID-19 mitigation measures to ensure mission readiness of the Theodore Roosevelt and other Navy assets. Theodore Roosevelt is in Guam for a scheduled port visit for resupply and crew rest during their scheduled deployment to the Indo-Pacific.
