North Observation Point - National Parks Gallery
Summary
Scotts Bluff National Monument. This view from the North Observation Point shows the Nebraska landscape carved by waterways. The North Platte River is seen in the far distance, and the Gering Irrigation Canal meanders through the foreground.
Constructed in 1897, the canal enabled agricultural practices in the semi-arid climate and is one of three canals which cross through the park boundaries.
