The 5,000-kilowatt Curtis turbine installed inch standard screw piping. Provision is madsfor the delivery of oil from barges on theriver or from cars. On the pipe wharf thereis an oil manifold with four 6-inch connec-tions. Along the spur railroad which runsin front of the building is a car manifold withfour 4-inch connections. The service oil isbrought to the building through an 8-inch pipeencased in sawdust with a 2-inch steam lineto heat the oil. Just outside the south end ofthe boiler room are two rectangular oil servicetanks of 200 barrels capacity each. Theseare encased in reinforced concrete. They areplaced below the ground level and are acces-sible through manholes. The generating and auxiliary machinery islocated on the first and second floors of themain bay adjoining the boiler room. The re-maining bay is divided into three stories andcontains the electrical equipment. The mainbay which is 38 feet wide by 100 feet long. is traversed by a traveling crane of 40 toncapacity wit
