Summary

PACIFIC OCEAN – Marines load into a UH-1Y Huey on the flight deck of USS San Diego (LPD 22) in preparation to fast rope onto a vessel during a visit, board, search and seizure mission as part of Composite Training Unit Exercise, May 12, 2017. COMPTUEX is the second at-sea training period for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the America Amphibious Ready Group as part of their pre-deployment training. VBSS missions are conducted to capture and control a suspected enemy vessel in order to combat terrorism, piracy and smuggling operations on the sea. Throughout these at-sea periods the Blue-Green team has work closely to hone their skill sets to meet critical mission sets. The Marines are with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion Maritime Raid Force attached to the 15th MEU. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Timothy Valero)
