PACIFIC OCEAN – Marines with the Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit stage to load Assault Amphibious Vehicles aboard USS San Diego (LPD 22) during Composite Training Unit Exercise, May 4, 2017. Sailors positioned the AAV's so the Marines would be able to quickly and efficiently disembark the ship in order to conduct a large-scale raid including Marines aboard USS America (LHA 6). COMPTUEX is the second at-sea training exercise, allowing the Navy-Marine Corps team to practice training as a unified force capable of responding to any mission when called upon.
