Summary
Swanson Creek, MD (May 1)--A response crewman prepares to wade into the marsh as clean up efforts continued into the 3rd week. The Swanson Creek oil spill is the largest spill in Maryland history. Over 111,000 gallons of oil was released into creeks the stem off of the Patuxent River. The spill was a result of a faulty pipeline that leaked 111,000 gallons of oil into Swanson Creek, near the Pepco Power Plant in southern Maryland. USCG photo by PA2 Angel Deilmer
