Petty Officer 3rd Class Dan Gomes, a boatswain's mate aboard Coast Guard Cutter Healy, and Rob Rember, a researcher at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, are lowered onto a large ice floe by crane to collect ice samples in the Arctic Ocean Sept. 3, 2015.
