Polish Air Force Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class, 33rd Air Base Infrastructure Company, Powidz Air Base, Poland, tests the soil strength of an unimproved landing zone while U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Stan MacDonald, an air traffic controller assigned to the 435th Contingency Response Group, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, records the readings prior to a air assault mission conducted by the 37th Airlift Squadron, March 5, 2013. This is the first official rotation of C-130J Super Hercules aircraft and personnel deployed to Poland in support of Exercise Screaming Eagle V. The exercise, hosted by Aviation Detachment 1, 52nd Operations Group, Lask Air Base, Poland, in support of the memorandum of understanding establishing a U.S. presence in Poland on a continuing basis.
