A full-length portrait of Joachim Ernst of Anhalt (1536-1586) against a fictive architectonic arch. He wears knee-length red bloomers, a light pink doublet and a black coat with a gold edge. He wears a long gold chain on his chest. In his left hand he holds a letter and in his right hand a gold trimmed black hat. The following inscription is written above the sitter: V.G.G. IOACHM.
