are swung suspended between the center andoutside axles. The center plate is in one piece with a heavysteel casting, which is seated on the bolsters. The truck frameand pedestals are also of cast steel. The calculated tractive force of these locomotives is 108,300pounds and in this respect the design marks an advance overany engines heretofore constructed by the builders. While thenew engines are primarily intended for freight service, the com-parativly large size of their wheels should enable them to handleheavy passenger trains on mountain grades. Although they arein some respects an experiment, the previous experience of thebuilders with heavy articulated compound locomotives indicatesthat their performance will be satisfactory. The principal dimensions, weight etc., are given in the follow-ing table: Gauge 4 ft. sy2 ins. Cylinders 26 ins. and 38 ins. x 34 ins. This image dataset is generated from our world's largest public domain image database. Made in two steps (manual, and image recognition), it comprises of more than 35,000 images of all types and sizes - an astonishing number if keep in mind that the total number of steam locomotives ever built was just one order of magnitude larger. All images are in the public domain, so there is no limitation on the dataset usage - educational, scientific, or commercial. Please contact us if you need a dataset like this, we may already have it, or, we can make one for you, often in 24 hours or less.
