Indian Ocean (Jan. 15, 2005) Representatives from the United Nations (UN), USAID, the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), and the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) meet aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) to discuss planed surveys in the region of Aceh, Sumatra, to better coordinate the needs of indigenous populations affected by the Dec. 26 tsunami that struck South East Asia. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is currently operating in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Indonesia and Thailand in support of Operation Unified Assistance.
