Printed bookplate with owner's name Richard W. Mindte. In the book, Taylor, Fitch W. (Fitch Waterman), 1803-1865. Voyage round the world. Richard Wagoner Mindte served in the Navy as a communications officer aboard the USS Phoenix during the Pearl Harbor attack and eventually achieved the rank of Commander. In addition, he spent time as a shepherd in Idaho, as a tuna fisherman in Baja, California, and as a hand bookbinder.
