ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. - A piece of history left Rock Island Arsenal – Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center Sept. 25. This seven-inch boring mill was installed March 1, 1943. It was initially used to bore and finish large steel castings weighing 22 tons. In more recent history it was utilized to machine big fixture bases.
