Rubbing of a fake Khitan-inscribed brick

Rubbing of a brick with a forged Khitan small script inscription. Xing Yuren 邢玉人, a stone mason and antiquities dealer, copied Khitan text published by Luo Fucheng 羅福成 onto an old brick he had taken from the city wall at Shenyang, and sold rubbings of the brick as a genuine Khitan brick from Jing'an Temple in the Liao Middle Capital. Yamashita Taizō 山下泰藏 of the Manchukuo Museum uncovered the deception, and broke up the brick and confiscated the unsold rubbings.
