WASHINGTON (Nov. 21, 2014) Sailors from Defense Media Activity receive a briefing from Kate Morrand, archaeological conservator at Naval History and Heritage Command's (NHHC) Underwater Archaeology Branch, on the preservation methods used to restore a late19th century Howell torpedo inside the NHHC's laboratory of archaeology and conservation at the Washington Navy Yard. The torpedo was discovered by a team of Navy dolphins off the coast of San Diego and has undergone months of restoration by the Navy archaeological team at NHHC.
