NORFOLK, Va. (Jun. 18, 2008) Sailors from the dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41) compete in stretcher bearer races during Surface Line Week 2008. Surface Line Week is a weeklong series of competitive events, during which Hampton Roads-area surface warriors show off their professional and athletic prowess. It is an opportunity to promote greater coordination and communication among surface warriors, to build esprit de corps and camaraderie and to recognize professional excellence across the force.
