Seattle-based U.S. Army Corps of Engineers team to evaluate facilities as alternate-care-sites in Washington

description

Summary

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District Assessment Team members Keith Rudie (left) and Scott Long go over facility plans to evaluate the University of Washington (UW) Dempsey Indoor Practice Facility as a possible location for an alternate-care-site, March 26. While the facility was not ultimately used for alternate care, FEMA later awarded $31.9 million to the UW to reimburse eligible expenses the university incurred during the first 163 days of the COVID-19 response -- including the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment and medical supplies for the UW Emergency Operation Center and Medical Operations Center. The site inspection and funding both illustrate the federal government's ongoing support to Washington in fight against COVID-19. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Bill Dowell)
