During testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the FY13 budget, March 8, 2012, they present differences between two battery charging stations as well as a solar battery charging blanket to illustrate the advancements made to support and protect troops and the environment. The Army is working with industry to develop modular, universal battery charging stations with solar capabilities to provide operational flexibility and reduce the weight born by soldiers. Currently, the average platoon carries 400 pounds of batteries for a three-day patrol.
