Security company maintains readiness on the range

description

Summary

Marine and civilian police officers from Security Company qualified in the Marine Corps pistol qualification and Low Light Qualification courses at F11 Alpha pistol range on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, May 22.
“Being able to operate in the day time and the night time is super beneficial for law enforcement officers,” said Gunnery Sgt. Joseph Clarkin, training chief, Security Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. “(We train) not only to have the capabilities or skills to do it, but to have the mindset that they are confident to utilize the weapons if they have to.
“This is their Table of Organization weapon and at any time the escalation of force could take them all the way up to the use of deadly force,” said Clarkin.
While many Marines have to qualify on their T/O weapon once a year, security company personnel are required to qualify at least four times a year.
“Every quarter they are required to shoot some type of qualification course whether that be the Marine Corps pistol qualification, the low light qualification, practical weapons course or the law enforcement qualification,” said Clarkin. “Everyone who comes through here, both civilians and Marines, are required to pass the qual.”
