Summary
Sgt. Andrew Fredley, left, a landing support specialist with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, prepares to enjoy breakfast at the house of Victor Hocog, lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), during typhoon relief efforts, Sept. 12. The lieutenant governor of CNMI invited the Humanitarian Assistance Surveillance Team of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to his house to show his gratitude and welcome the Marines and Sailors to Rota. Service members from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command are providing Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and working with Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands’ civil and local officials for Typhoon Mangkhut recovery efforts. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
