description

Summary

Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division Artillery Brigade, lower the barrel on a M777 howitzer during a platoon-level validation live-fire to prepare it for sling load on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, Jan. 31, 2018, at a Fort Campbell, Kentucky. This is a bi-annual progressive type of training that prepares soldiers for air assault gun raid by transporting soldiers and howitzers from one training area to another, then the soldiers are given a fire mission and a time in which they must be ready to fire. A very large dataset of various big guns, howitzers, mortars, columbiads, all types of canon-like things - everything besides machine guns and rockets. This collection as well as all massive collections on Picryl.com required two steps: First, we picked a set to train AI vision to recognize cannon artillery, and after that, ran all 25M+ images in our database through our image recognition network. All media in the collection is in the public domain. There is no limitation on the dataset usage - educational, scientific, or commercial.
