YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 08, 2009) Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class John Anderson, from Washington, D.C., explains the functions of the REMUS 100 unmanned underwater vehicle to Rear Adm. Kouichirou Matsumoto, commander of Mine Warfare Force, and other members of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The REMUS 100 is a lightweight unmanned underwater vehicle designed to operate in shallow coastal environments and is used to detect and classify possible mine warfare threats.
