SOUTH CHINA SEA (Nov. 9, 2015) U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Wilfred Rivera, left, passes a piece of birthday cake to Lance Cpl. Manuel Davalos during the Marine Corps birthday ceremony aboard USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Rivera is the commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Davalos is a rifleman with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th MEU. During the ceremony, it is customary for the oldest and youngest Marines present to enjoy the first slice of cake signifying the passing of traditions. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to promote regional stability and security in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
