Spirit burner (HOME 1854) - Homestead National Monument of America
Summary
A spirit lamp is a piece of laboratory equipment used to produce an open flame. They are preferred over Bunsen burners by some for safety purposes or when natural gas is not available. This one was likely used to sterilize equipment. Has three legs which continue over the top of burner to form holder for item to be heated. Manufactured by Glogau & Co., Chicago.
