ST. JOHN'S RIVER LIGHTHOUSE (FO RELEASE)
Summary
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 14, 2004) -- Petty Officer 2nd Class Chad Tabary (IT2) of Electronic Support Detachment Mayport, Fla. repels down the 83-foot St. John's River Lighthouse to make final repairs to a communications cable, which had to be replaced after being battered within two months by hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne. The St. John's Lighthouse is still an active aide used for navigation for entrance to the St. John's River in Mayport. Oct. 1, 2004 was the 50th anniversary of the lighhouse's activation into Coast Guard service. USCG photo by PA3 Bobby Nash.
