Staff Sgt. Danilo Lopez, a Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival, teaches athletes of the Royals Swimming Team at the Queens University of Charlotte, Marine Corps water survival training during United States Marine Corps’ 2018 Marine Week in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 6, 2018. Marines are inherently amphibious by nature and are expected to operate in aquatic environments. Marine Corps water survival training’s purpose is to reduce fear, raise self- confidence, and develop Marines with the ability to survive in water.
