Stereograph of south facade of Longfellow House taken from Brattle Street. Visible is gas light on street edge of sidewalk located to viewer's right of gate. Also visible are Two granite posts, located in gutter next to sidewalk. C1856-1859. Embossed left side of card, "BARNUM/PHOTOGRAPHER/BOSTON." Inscribed in ink, in cursive, upper right card, "Longfellow Residence." Inscribed in ink, in cursive, bottom of card, "1859-1863 Washington's Headquarters, Cambridge, Mass." Inscribed in ink, in cursive, left edge of verso, "Presented to the Craigie House by/Thomas M. Galey/Owensboro, KY Mar 8, 1947." Inscribed in pen, in cursive, right edge of verso, "F. M. L. 1863." Glued to verso is a label on which is printed, "AMERICAN HISTORICAL SERIES/ OF /Stereoscopic Pictures,/WASHINGTON'S HEAD-QUARTERS,/CAMBRIDGE, MASS. The text of the label describes short history of Washington's Headquarters. At bottom of label is printed, "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1859, by Deblois Barnum, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Massachusetts."
