Summary

The original finding aid described this as:

Description: Extravehicular Activity (EVA) 2, nighttime views, on Flight Day 5 to service the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) on this second servicing mission (HST SM-02). Mission Specialist Joe Tanner (identified by diagonal red stripes on his extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) suit) translates down from the telescope with the help of a translation aid (TA) handle to the Orbital Replacement Unit (ORU) Carrier (ORUC) small ORU protective enclosure (SOPE) and opens the lid (012-19). Mission Specialist Greg Harbaugh (standing on the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) Manipulator Foot Restraint (MFR)) moves over Tanner at the ORUC SOPE box (020-28). Medium shot of Harbaugh holding onto the MFR work stanchion handrail with one hand while looking toward the crew compartment (029-31). Harbaugh stands on the Second Axial Carrier (SAC) foot restraint and removes the toolboard and handrail from the MFR stanchion while Tanner (left of frame) translates up from external airlock to RMS (032-33). Tanner holds onto the MFR and releases Harbaugh's (out of frame) tether on the MFR (034-35). These frames are badly fogged due to radiation.
