Sutro Heights parapet - National Parks Gallery
Summary
One of the first major structures that Sutro built was the rock and sandstone parapet located immediately west of the residence. Sited on the highest point of the estate, the parapet continues to provide breathtaking views of the surrounding coastal scenery to the north, west and south. Since its completion in 1895 the parapet has been a major focal point, observation platform, and Sutro Heights visitor destination. The 2nd Cliff House, built by Adolf Sutro in 1896, appears in the left-hand corner and the outline of the Marin Headlands appears in the right-hand corner.
