Summary
The 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) recognized the month of November, which is set aside as Native American Heritage Month, with a special observance during the Army Reserve unit’s Battle Training Assembly Nov. 13. The observance featured the Tulalip Tribe's chairman, Melvin Sheldon Jr., who visited the unit and spoke to a group of more than 100 Soldiers about his experiences as a Native American in the Army where he served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. The Tulalip Tribe is a conglomerate of several Native American tribes in Snohomish County, Wash. In the past, the ESC’s special projects officer has scheduled Soldier tours of the nearby tribe’s Hibulb Museum and cultural artifacts displays at the unit’s headquarters in Marysville, Wash. The 364th ESC regularly involves community members and leaders in its Equal Opportunity Special Observances.
