od negatives can be made when devel-oped in B, even with more than ten times normal. As B is avery slow developer, it can be used full strength for plates aswell as paper. In the case of doubtful exposures it is always advisable tostart them in B. If, at the end of two or three minutes, theyshow no signs of the image starting, they can safely be trans-ferred to A without washing. Development, in all cases, except when double coated platesare used, should be carried until the high lights are shownclearly through to the back of the plate, regardless of how thefront of plate may look. With these two simple stock solutions, both of which willkeep for months in tightly stoppered bottles, the camerist isable to make negatives or prints at will and obtain the desiredresults, provided he has taken reasonable care with his ex-posures. Always err on the side of over-exposure, when possible, asyou can hold back what you do not want, but you can neveradd what was not there in the first place. IS6
