THE COLLIE. 507 heavy as to interfere with their movements while worldng. A great many writers seem to think that the Collie when working has always to contend with a blizzard or a mud pond, and that if his coat is long the snow or mud will cling to him in such quantities as to soon tire him out. This, however, is the exception rather than the rule, and the texture of the coat is of much more importance than its length. The most important point is the under coat.
