Mitchell8 in 1894collected 33 such cases from the literature.Kelly and Hurdon4 added 13; Fowler3added four which these authors omittedfrom their statistics, and collected 13additional cases from the literature downto 1912, making a total of 63 cases ofappendicitis due to a pin in the ap-pendix. In the literature since then Ifind similar cases reported by Rivarola,9ReicheIderfer,IU Mahoney,11 and Fowler3;a total of 6_ to which I will add the follow-ing 2 cases. Case i.
