ATLANTIC OCEAN (Apr. 04, 2012) The amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) is underway in the Atlantic Ocean. New York is deployed as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with embarked Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU) in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
