The alary processes, flattened, distallyexpanded plates of cartilage, arise just behind the anteriorcornua. The postero-lateral angles of the body are producedto form the postero-lateral processes. The thyroid processesdiverge from the middle part of the posterior margin of thebody and lie on either side of the larynx, which they help tosupport.
