The bitter herb from BL Or 1404, f. 18
Summary
Decorated initial-word panels, ~Maror zeh~ (This bitter herb) and ~Be-kol dor~ (In every generation). Under the first panel, is a giant leaf representing the ~maror~ flanked by two men. Beneath, a couple is seated at a spread Seder table with the husband pointing to his wife. This motif refers to a pun meaning that for the husband his wife is the bitter herb. Image taken from f. 18 of Haggadah with commentary and liturgical poems for Passover (the 'Brother Haggadah'). Written in Hebrew.
