d wasburied in St. Michaels Lutheran graveyard. Of Maria Elisabeth, daughter of the Parson, who marriedElias Kuhn, we know nothing at present. Maria Catharine, youngest daughter of the Parson, assaid, married Peter Apple, and prior to 1742 they removedto the Monocacy settlement in Maryland, whither herbrother George Henkel had also gone. It will be noted that we have recovered five of the sevenchildren of the Parson, and of these five we are able to givemore definite information in future issues. For Maria Elisabeth Kuhn, named after her mother, wehave never made a systematic search. There were severalfamilies of this name very prominent in colonial days, andwhen once we have the time to search the records, we hopeto meet with success. TOMBSTONE OF ANTHONY JACOB HENKEL. J =? YOUNGEST SON OF THE EXILE. REV. ANTHONY JACOB HENKEL THE HENKEL MEMORIAL. J7 THE EXILES GRAVE. In our prospectus we mentioned our opinion that we hadfound the grave of our ancestor Henkel. That opinion isfounded on the following facts. The unknown relative onwhose statements to Dr. Solomon Henkel and his brotherRev. Ambrose, our primal knowledge of the Exile rests,stated that he was buried at Chestnut Hill which is severalmiles west of Germantown. In Rev. Paul Henkels journalin a note which we think was made long before his sons metthe aforesaid lady, he expressly says the immigrant, whowas his great grandfather, was buried at Chestnut Hill. Itis therefore clear that he was not buried at his home in NewHanover about twenty-five miles from where he fell from hishorse, sustaining injuries from which he died. When thewidow, Maria Elisabeth, died sixteen years later (1744,)she was buried in St. Michaels Lutheran graveyard whichwas situated nearly ahenkelmemorialhi12henk
