The last stand – Marines in the defense fire the final rounds of Exercise Koolendong
Summary
U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Zian Kovach with Ground Combat Element, Marine Rotational Force - Darwin, waits to fire the Mk 19 Grenade Launcher in a defensive position during the final live-fire range of Exercise Koolendong at Mount Bundey Training Area, NT, Australia, Sept. 10, 2020. The purpose of this range was to prevent the notional enemy from interfering with a simulated Marine Air-Ground Task Force landing sight and to destroy the enemy from a defensive position. Koolendong will exercise the Marine Corps' and Australian Defense Force's ability to conduct a range of crisis response and contingency operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
