It is reasonable to believe with Virchow* that this lesion must produce serious dis-turbance of the functions of the intestinal canal. Its relations to the inflammatory condi-tions of the intestinal mucous membrane, with which it is so often associated, are lessobvious. According to Playem these inflammatory conditions are the consequence of theamyloid disease. He describes accordingly a psorenterie amyloide\ which terminates inamyloid erosions and ulcerations.
