The Navy returns President's Cup to Marine Corps football team. The Marines Corps defeated the United States Coast Guard eleven at Griffith Stadium today in Washington 18-0, thereby again gaining possession of the President's Cup which was won last year by a team representing the Navy. The Navy not having a team this year turned the Cup over to the Coast Guard and in this picture Admiral Charles F. Hughes, chief of Naval Operations, is presenting the trophy to Fullback O'Neill, captain of the Marine team. Admiral Billard, commandment of the U.S. Coast Guard, and General W.C. Neville, commandment of the Marine Corps., are shown in the background

The Harris & Ewing, Inc. Collection of photographic negatives includes glass and film negatives taken by Harris & Ewing, Inc., which provide excellent coverage of Washington people, events, and architecture, during the period 1905-1945. Harris & Ewing, Inc., gave its collection of negatives to the Library in 1955. The Library retained about 50,000 news photographs and 20,000 studio portraits of notable people. Approximately 28,000 negatives have been processed and are available online. (About 42,000 negatives still need to be indexed.)
