Dr. Inman had for several yearsowned good dogs, and set about the workon scientific principles. He, in conjunc-tion with Mr. Walmsley, purchased thesmooth-coated Kenilworth from Mr. Loft,bred that dogs produce with a brindleMastiff of high repute, and then crossed backto his St. Bernards with the most successfulresults. Dr. Inman was instrumental informing the National St. Bernard Club,which, like the older society, was soon wellsupported with members, and now has atits disposal a good collection of valuablechallenge cups. The dogs bred at Bowden carried all before them in the show ring,and were continually in request for studpurposes, improving the breed to a remark-able extent. At the disposal of Messrs. Inman andWalmsleys kennel, there were such admir-able dogs as the rough-coated Wolfram—from whom were bred Tannhauser, Narcissus,

These dogs and bitches, withseveral others, were dispersed all overEngland, with the exception of Klingsorwho went to South Africa. Mr. J. W. Proctor, of Mobberley, pur-chased Tannhauser and Viola, but theyare, unfortunately, both dead, as also areNarcissus and Wolfram. Messrs.
