The Nimitz-class aircraft carriers USS Carl Vinson

The Nimitz-class aircraft carriers USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) steam side-by-side during turn-over as Vinson assumes the watch as the deployed aircraft carrier in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are deployed supporting maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts in U.S. 5th Fleet.
