"The Soldier's Pet Christmas Gift," December 21, 1918

This illustration drawn by Louis Grell, appeared in the December 21, 1918 issue of the "Straight Grain" newspaper. After the end of the war, many Spruce Production Division soldiers hoped to be "home by Christmas," a wish that was reflected in the pages of their newspaper.
